POETRY

You’ll take a swift swig of your beer

Dousing the bedlam of sorrow in your heart

She’ll graze his hands up her thigh

Arousing the palates of her lust

You will lie awake, sleep bereft

She’ll lie awake, her pupils sinking to the back of her head

You’ll pick your phone to call her, just one more time you mutter

She will flip hers – don’t mind him – she’ll utter

Apprehensiveness will excruciate your belly

Carnality will simmer in her bones

You’ll gnaw at your nails

A tongue will tease all of her lips

A tear will emancipate from your glands

Gasps will escape her mouth

A knell to a wretched heart
